Luna Beach - In the News
Roatan Getaway by Tab Hauser
After much research I picked Luna Beach Resort as our place to stay for the 6 days we were here. Luna Beach is located 20 minutes from the airport on the western end of the island. It is also a pleasant 10 minute stroll on the beach to the village of West End. This resort offers 1 and 2 room beach front suites along with what they call 3 and 4 bedroom tropical wooden houses that are up a short hill. These houses are perfect for families and couples that want to share a house and still have their own bedroom and bathrooms. There are no TVs or phones in the rooms but there is air conditioning to keep you comfortable if you want to escape from the heat of the day. I found the hammock on the large shaded porch more than adequate as a break from the sun for a short nap. The hotel does offer internet but only using their lap top in the lobby at $6 per hour. This was the only real flaw I found with them. Do not plan on plugging in your computer here and work. They also have a fear of going wireless for fear of viruses. There are plenty of internet cafes to plug into in the village for $5 per hour.

Roatan? Where is Roatan?
"…if you want upscale, you might book in at the Luna Beach Resort, halfway between West End Village and West Bay Beach offering mahogany, mahogany, mahogany; VERY tastefully appointed grounds with cabanas and villas tucked into the hillside, a pool (a rarity in Roatan) and dining al fresco to die for. A unique experience."

The First Temptation

For romancing the reef, as well as your significant other, the Luna Beach Resort on the northwest corner of Roatan is perfect. Fashioned primarily of Honduran hardwoods, this casually elegant diver's retreat descends from a verdant, jungle-covered hillside onto a spectacular, sprawling beach. The scenery is idyllic, the location ideal. No mere sliver of sand, the beach borders the crystal lagoon of West End Bay for nearly a mile. A short walk east of the resort will lead you to the rustic tourist village of West End and its strip of craft shops, funky bars, and seaside restaurants.
The long, narrow island of Roatan is fringed by a nearly continuous, coast-hugging reef. From Luna Beach's position, at the west end of West End, it's only a mile or so to the tip of the island, both coasts are easily accessible. The resort's 47-foot custom dive boat can reach more than 40 named dive sites within three to 15 minutes from the dock. Many of these sites are among the best dives in Roatan.

The hotels stand cheek-by-jowl on Roatán Island's busy West Bay Beach, but the peaceful section occupied by Luna Beach Resort's 17 stucco-and-teak bungalows is farther down the shoreline. Lounge chairs are sprinkled along the ribbon of sugar sand out front; one of the world's finest coral reefs is only a few strokes beyond the surf. There's also easy access to the jungle for hiking. Once the sun descends, join the crowds that congregate on the wood deck for the weekly party until dawn. WEST END, ROATAN, BAY ISLANDS; 011-504/445-0009; www.lunabeachresort.com

Roatan, Honduras (PRWEB) June 25, 2005 Luna Beach Resort kicked off its Dive Roatan Blog, being the first on the island of Roatan to offer a blog for divers. Divers can read the blog to check diving conditions, review current photos and descriptions of underwater scenery, read about unusual dives and get updates on the Roatan Reef Project. The blog can be viewed at www.lunabeachresort.com.
"We are excited to provide an ongoing connection between divers and the diving in Roatan through our blog," says Tim Brown, Luna Beach Resort"s Divemaster. "We regularly get calls and e-mails about the diving conditions prior to divers visiting Roatan and believe the blog is a great way to help divers feel connected to Roatan whether they are coming to the island next week or next year."
Blogging has become the latest trend on the web. According to a recent study, more than 32 million people now read blogs. Blogging originally started as a public diary on the web or a web log. The term web log has been shortened to blog and has been around for a few years. However, the blogging trend gained momentum when blogging publishing systems, such as Google"s blogger.com were launched. These new websites allow novices to publish their own blog, link it to their website and reap the benefits of having a blog.
